Description of the organization and its target audience
FreeRADIUS is an open source RADIUS server.
It is the most popular and widely used RADIUS server in the world, with over one million downloads of every released version.
RADIUS servers authenticate users and apply authorisation policies when they sign into a service.
RADIUS is commonly used as the authentication for Wireless, 3G, Broadband, Terminal login (to servers), Wired network ports, and web applications. It's also used to log information about data usage and commands issue.
FreeRADIUSes key features are its speed, its reliability, its ease of integration, and its simplicity. It's main competitors are Microsoft's NPS, Cisco ACS, Radiator and Juniper steel belted RADIUS.
The end goal of the project is to develop something that integrates multiple elements of network control, from DHCP to DNS as well as RADIUS.
The server is used by Network and Software engineers, but CTOs higher level managers are the ones who make the decision to choose it over a commercial solution.

If you can figure out a tasteful way to incorporate the slogan, then fine, otherwise it really doesn't matter (we think it's long and clumsy too).
The logo should reflect FreeRADIUSes key features (namely its ability to integrate, both in terms of existing services, and integrating all the components of the network together).
It should also be relatively simple (please don't go overboard on the gradients) and easily recognisable.
The winner will also be commissioned to create a logo for Network RADIUS (the commercial side of the project), this logo should be recognisably linked to the FreeRADIUS logo, but the colours should be Blue (same shade)/Orange/White.
The second logo should be more serious and corporate than the FreeRADIUS logo.
It's absolutely not necessary to show both completed logos (not even sure if that's allowed), but bonus points for designers who show a mocked up second logo (if we like both designs you'll be paid separately for this at 50% the amount we paid 99designs for the initial FreeRADIUS logo (an additional $400)).

If you use fonts that require a license, confirm with the client they're ok with it. For licensing reasons, it is better to provide your client with information on how to acquire the font rather than providing the actual files.
Text in logos should be converted to outlines.
