Check out NKan's Web page design contest…
5th + Quansah is an upscale e-commerce retailer of clothing and accessories for men and women, serving the West African market (Nigeria primarily).
--Please see attachment for our current mock up of this, which we are looking for improvements or a new take on. --Netaporter.com (http://www.net-a-porter.com/): we love how this website has not only a clean, traditional navigation bar up top allowing customers to understand how to go directly to products, but also an editorial feel and space for a rotating editorial feature to appear. We also like how simple, upscale and traditional the branding and background is. --Mr. Porter (http://www.mrporter.com/): We like how centrally the editorial pieces play on this website, and we particularly like how simple the navigation pages are for the categories (see here: http://www.mrporter.com/Shop/Accessories) --Asos (http://us.asos.com/ASOS-Shop-womens-fashion-mens-clothing-Free-Shipping-Returns/wh5yb/?r=1&mk=VOID): We love the side navigation detail coupled with the top navigation simplicity. --Arise Magazine (http://www.arisemagazine.net/magazine): We are particularly inspired by Arise Magazine. They symbolize everything our customer is-- African, connected, cosmopolitan and fashion forward. Please peruse the magazine covers shown on the link above to get a sense for the type of editorial feel we're going for.
1. Landing/Home Page -- First page seen by user who visits our site -- Should convey the following: that this is an e-commerce site with an editorial lean, that the site can be navigated via an easy-to-use menu bar if the user wants to shop directly, that the editorial portions can be perused in a pop-up magazine format, and --NOTE: The magazine features are set (for now), so please don't change the names of any of those features, or the order, if you have them listed out on the site. We think listing them so that the user can easily see what we have to offer may be best, but we are open to your thoughts [i.e.- flash, scrolling, interchanging, etc] --Magazine pages attached for your reference, should you decide to use the images, or be inspired by them when designing home page --Should be able to be used as a shell when site is built out, such that an 'About Us' page can also be used in the same template to contain contact information and information about upcoming launch.
Overall, this should feel high-end, slick, and traditional yet current. This is for a West African customer, so any images with people should reflect that (i.e.-- no caucasian models). We're happy with the layout we have, and are open to completely new interpretations as well as improvements on the 'landing page' you see attached. Landing Page Must Contain: 1. Ability to select country (between Nigeria, Ghana, USA and UK), 2. Place for users to sign up to join email list, 3. Links to the following categories, or some derivation of (What's New, Women's, Shoes, Bags, Accessories, Beauty, The Men's Store, Magazine, Help, About) 4. Shopping Cart 5. Place for users to sign into their account Demographics: Affluent, well-connected, well-traveled West African consumers. 25-40. Living in major West African cities with all of the comforts money can buy. Male and female. Well-educated, professional people and/or socialites and celebrities. Well aware of international brands and fashion standards. Lifestyle: Our consumers read international fashion magazines-- from the US, the UK and Africa. They enjoy luxury cars, homes, and lifestyles in general. They live in Africa, but are consumers of the world. Web Habits: These consumers are plugged-in, on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. The more fashionable of them read sites such as Bella Naija (http://www.bellanaija.com/), StyleHouseFiles (http://www.stylehousefiles.com/), The Fancy Hub (http://www.thefancyhub.com/), Haute Fashion Africa (http://www.hautefashionafrica.com/) and Ono Bello (http://onobello.com/). Please ask if you have any questions.
