russ.krajec got their new web page design by running a design contest:

Accounting & Financial
We finance patents for small businesses - target audience is entrepreneurs and their investors (angel investors/venture capital investors)
light, airy, open - simple icons on the home page above the grid topics, a picture of an entrepreneur/small business owner/factory owner at the top of the home page. Serious, solid, confident, high quality. Some inspirational websites: https://www.wundercapital.com/ has an airy look and feel, plus they have the long, scrollable webpages, and good use of typography. buddy.com has always had nice looking websites. http://bigdoor.com/ - good typography and other graphical elements - maybe a little too informal, but well designed. http://www.dragoninnovation.com/ - not too overwhelming in complexity, says what it needs to say clearly and has meaningful content on the home page
Home page is a long, scrollable page that covers many topics. Each topic will have a "learn more" button or links to a blog topic page. I have many posts at krajec.com that will be moved to the new website. A blog topic page will have an aggregation of all blog posts related to a topic. A blog post page will show an individual post. An about/contact page will have a bio and address. I am providing a text version of the ideas I would like to put on the home page. I would like to have small icons or other graphical elements to convey the different ideas, so please feel free to use your creativity to convey the concepts.
The text in the homepage design contains a lot of elements. I am open to suggestions for how to minimize/combine some of it, as well as looking for good ways to express the content in a meaningful way. The purpose of the website is to introduce the concept of financing patents and the benefits, then there will be links to content (some of which will come from the hundreds of posts on krajec.com/blog). The content will be detailed 500-1000 word essays on individual topics, and maybe there is a landing page that introduces a large section of content. For example, for the topic "No Provisionals", there might be a scrollable web page that has 3-5 major points about that topic, each point linking to a blog post. Keys for this design contest: 1. Develop a visual style for the brand - typography, color, graphical elements 2. Present the front page content in an easy to read, meaningful, and powerful manner The BlueIron concept appeals to clients in two different ways: 1. The concept of financing patents is completely foreign and unique, so this needs to be explained a little bit. 2. BlueIron produces patents that are much different than run-of-the-mill patents - this is because BlueIron uses different techniques and has different interests than the old way of getting patents. The section of the website that says "More patents, better patents = more opportunity, higher valuations" is the main point of the website. Please present this in a powerful, strong way. The purpose of the website is not to complete a sale, but to present the concept of financing patents (which nobody does) and to educate potential clients. The only call to action is to contact me, and that only needs to be a contact page which will be accessed through a footer that will be on every page. A typical deal would be a multi-year, high dollar negotiated contract. The education aspect of the website is accomplished through blog posts (examples of which are at krajec.com/blog), although I want to improve the organization of the posts.
