We are a research team within Arizona State University’s (ASU), School of Nutrition and Health Promotion testing physical activity programs for the public. "WalkIT" Arizona stands for Walking Interventions through Texting, as we use texting to encourage walking and incorporate physical activities into everyday life (walking with friends, taking the stairs, riding mass transit, etc). We do not want to promote weight loss - we are focused on health through regular physical activity (mainly walking). And people are randomized into our programs, so they cannot choose one specifically.
Please avoid "fitness model" type images - we want a diversity of men, women, and body types represented on our website. Please include walking images; running is unlikely for most people. Also, images of urban landscapes, mass transit use, or residential neighborhoods are important as we are also studying the built environment and urban form.
We're based in Phoenix AZ images of the desert, saguaro cactus or related local-regional images are appreciated. Our target audience is men and women 18-60 years old interested mobile phones and wearable technology (text messages and activity monitors (Fitbits)).
We are not a gym or fitness center, but a research group that develops new technologies. Our aim is to recruit potential study participants into our programs.
The homepage will act as a landing page for all of our marketing materials (door hangers, direct mail campaign, Facebook ads, other lead generators will point to the homepage). The homepage page will inform prospective study participants about the study and ultimately guide those interested in participating to our pre-screening survey (via Qualtrics survey system) to see if they qualify to be a participant in the research study.

The program is free to everyone and participants earn incentives (gift cards) for participating the study worth up to $365.
