KTMediaGroup got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Refresh STL Weddings with Clean/Web 2.0 Vibe

We are a local wedding directory based in St. Louis, Missouri. We allow users to rate and review wedding vendors. We have a strong social media presence and a wedding ideas blog that is growing in popularity.
Here's a good articles about the type of design we like - http://www.webdesignfromscratch.com/web-design/web-2-0-design-style-guide/ http://themeforest.net/item/kids-voice-school-html-template/full_screen_preview/573808 - This site uses textures very well and we like the orange footer area that sticks out so well. Not sure this would work on our site, but it is an example of a quality footer design that we like. http://themeforest.net/item/kiddo-a-powerful-kids-theme/full_screen_preview/802808 - I like how the sidebars actually look designed in this - we want to get away from just text. http://visitmix.com/ - Good example of separating the sections while using a white background for the logo area. http://www.showandtellsale.com/ - We like the email sign up here or at the very least the idea of the way it is presented.
Generally, we're looking to keep the same basic layout. Its a two-column layout capped with a header and footer section. The logo stays the same (it is attached). And the thumbnails for the blog excerpts will stay the same size. The existing header/logo area occupies too much space and we hate that we have a photo utilizing the area to the right of the logo. GET RID OF THE PHOTO. Do not use the photo in your design. Overall, we're looking for a more polished look - something a bit more universal, web 2.0, and clean.
Wireframe - 1st Row (header) - Logo or Logo with Navigation or Logo with Email sign up 2nd Row - Navigation 3rd Row - Presentation of Vendor Categories (currently photo boxes which we do not like) or Presentation of Vendor Categories with Email Sign Up Body section (2 columns) 1st column 1st row - Main content/paragraphs 2nd row - blog excerpts with photos 2nd column 1st row - email sign up if not used in header section 2nd row - wedding vendor categories 3rd row - most popular articles these widgets change but the point is that they are elements with titles and text contents Footer section 1st row - facebook feed, twitter feed, rss feed 2nd row - copyright info i generally like it when this entire section is a different color - including a different shade for each row Use http://kuler.adobe.com/#create/fromanimage for color. Upload our logo for a combination. Then find one color as a contrasting color for important elements (like the email sign up) - for instance, blue or green.
