Don Wilson got their new web page design by running a design contest:
[Extended: Sept 3] Design needed for social networking/rating site - $250
Check out Don Wilson's Web page design contest…
Hey everyone, I'm looking to get a fairly simple design done for a social networking site that includes rating, photo hosting, etc. The design will be primarily a white/light grayish background with black text and simple textual logo. $150 for frontpage and $100 for the profile page.
What's your vision?
Desired Color Scheme: white bg, soft colors (blue desired) Accepted File Formats: PSD, 100% Quality JPG I am looking to have a social networking site design done for this contest. I do not want something too web 2.0ish, nor do I want something that looks like something from the 90s. There is no name for the site right now, so 'ProfileSite' can do for now. Colors I do not want anything that has a harsh color scheme, no orange, purple, hard blues, reds, etc. I would like something that has a white background, blackish text, soft blues (not light, not dark), maybe a soft green, but I think a blue would work better. Structural Navigation can either go horizontal or vertical (left side), per the design of the links given below. I would enjoy a closed design (facebook). The site should fit in a 900px width. We can ignore 800x600. Wider widths are open as needed. If you choose to seperate the sections (eg boxes for each section of the layout), please do not put borders around them. Simply make them have a slightly different background than the main bg. Texts Here are a few text items to use in the menu. Home, My Profile, Forum, Marketplace, Entertainment, etc. Just make up a few so I can see how the design will look with text inside it. Examples I'm looking along the lines of something like FaceTheJury.com and FaceBook.com, in regards to intelligently designed yet simplistic. I like the header of FaceTheJury as it has an ability to grow. The design does not have to have a horizontal main menu, as FaceBook has a great side navigation, but it is a thought. I also enjoy the header's structure and style over at DevientArt Additional page: Profile There will need to be a place for a profile picture, user information, section of photos and/or albums, small control panel (see: facethejury), user comments (like facebook's wall). Profile could be two columns, such as facebook, or one main column, per facethejury. Additional Information If you have any questions, concerns, etc, please private message me, or shoot an email to email@example.com. I haven't used this new contest system, so I'll be getting used to it and hopefully it won't be too hard for me to get used to it! Requirements and Reserves I require the PSD along with a 100% quality JPG of the winner's design and full ownership of said design. I reserve the right to cancel the contest at any time, end the contest without picking a winner, as well as offer payment to additional contestants for their designs, alongside contest winner. Future Work If the design is up to my standard, I will definitely continue work with with the winner in the future as needed, if winner is interested.
