How Richard Harrison started their web page design journey
Who are you known as?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
An online wagering concept where people can bet on the outcome of a round of matches in the AFL (Australian Rules Football) and (separately) the NRL (Rugby League).
Target audience is Australian football fans aged 18 and over.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
What do you have in mind for the style and theme of the web page?
We have a logo that we are very happy with. The two (slightly) different balls are designed to reflect both AFL and NRL as we must be careful not to be seen to favour one code over the other. We need to incorporate a subtle but clear link tab on each wagering page that links to the other code's page. i.e 'Switch to NRL' 'Switch to AFL'
The Home Page needs to be clear, concise, fun, welcoming and professional. It is imperative that visitors see the site as trustworthy. As per the attached mock up it needs to feature a Registration Link, Member Log in and How to Play video. The most important thing to achieve at this point is to make sure visitors to the site Sign Up.
The wagering screen (separate page) needs to be simple, clear and concise. It is important that players can make their selections and construct a multiple wager without scrolling up and down. Players will enter a dollar amount as their unit investment. The site itself will calculate the number of combinations and hence the total outlay.
Ultimately the site will be viewed on a PC, Tablet and Smart phone.
What to avoid
We must not include the AFL or NRL logo, any club logos, or any player images whatsoever.
The two pages (most important) are the Home Page and the Place a Bet (wagering page).
The circles next to each team's name are where players mark their selections. The oval shaped graphics will feature (we think) the colours of each team's uniform as per the last mock up. NB: We must avoid using actual club logos, therefore Carlton can be simply Navy Blue, Brisbane - Maroon, Blue and Gold (no Lion), Gold Coast - Orange and Gold, G. W. Sydney - Charcoal, Orange and White and Fremantle - Purple and White.
All of the copy and links on the attached storyboard need to be include. The "Intralot' mock up has been added simply to show the colours associated with each team.
Sports Betting web sites are invariably complicated and intimidating for the inexperienced user. We are very anxious that FootyBet Jackpot is very clean, simple and easy to understand. We are targeting everyday football fans - not seasoned sports bettors.
In summary the site needs to be fun and friendly.
