We would like to have a special Thanksgiving website, PardonTurkeys.com The purpose of the PardonTurkeys.com website is to capture contact information from people pledging to eat a vegetarian Thanksgiving meal and to provide them with featured recipes (via a link to our main website). Pledgers are automatically entered into a contest for free vegetarian turkey-alternative products.
The style/theme should be hip, orange, and cutting-edge. See attached PDF.
The homepage should show a video educating visitors about the factory farming of turkeys, encourage visitors to pledge to eat a vegetarian thanksgiving, show how celebrities are doing the same, and show interesting facts about turkeys. Sections: - A main revolving image section in which we can feature a video, etc. - I pledge to pardon a turkey - Vegan recipes (should revolve to show different food images & recipe titles) - “Turkey Tidbits” (should revolve to show different turkey facts) - Kind Celebs (should revolve to show different celeb images & quotations)
Our target audience is women 14-35. CONTENT 1. Celeb Content (images in accompanying file) “It’s so simple to create a delicious holiday meal without animal cruelty. I promise no one will miss the turkey!” – Alicia Silverstone “The good thing about Thanksgiving Day is that a lot of stuff is already vegan, so, folks can rest assured that giving up the turkey doesn’t mean they also have to give up on gorging on delicious food. - Olivia Wilde “I like to stuff myself at Thanksgiving, not the turkeys. Save a life this thanksgiving and adopt a turkey instead of eating one.” – Kevin Nealon "Turkeys are among the most abused animals on earth. The horrors these smart, sensitive birds routinely suffer…on our nation's factory farms…are appalling and incongruent with most Americans' values of compassion." – John Salley, 4-time NBA Champion “I learned a lot about a how animals are treated and mistreated before they get to our tables. It is appalling and beneath our humanity to allow the torture of animals for the sake of our gluttony.” – Oprah Winfrey “I like animals, all animals. I wouldn`t hurt a cat or a dog - or a chicken or a cow. And I wouldn`t ask someone else to hurt them for me. That`s why I`m a vegetarian.” – Peter Dinklage 4.RECIPES (images in accompanying file) Make your Thanksgiving a celebration for the birds, too. These compassionate recipes are simple, tasty, and sure to appeal to everyone gathered around your holiday table. (Should show image and name of recipe. Turkeys are very smart animals with personality, character, and keen awareness of their surroundings. In nature, turkeys are protective and nurturing parents, as well as fast runners, who are able to use reason to outwit their pursuers. Turkeys experience emotions and “blush”—their heads turn pink based on their feelings. Turkeys are affectionate; male turkeys woo females by trying to impress them with their remarkable tail feathers. Turkeys are sensitive and playful creatures--if you throw an apple to a group, they’ll play with it together, kind of like football. Turkeys have a complex vocabulary of gobbles, clucks, putts, yelps, and whistles. Male turkeys also use body language—strutting--to attract females and intimidate other males. In the wild, turkeys will create a nest under protective shrubs or in tall grass to raise one brood of chicks per year. Turkeys are social. In the wild, turkeys will form groups during the winter to support and protect each other. 6. Holiday Activism (insert Website, Facebook, Twitter, and Blog icons) We're thankful for YOU!
