Andrew Law Accountancy

Background info

Andrew law is a Chartered Accountant based in Launceston, Cornwall in the UK. Apart from general accountancy, he specialises in providing tax advice to both people and businesses. This web site will focus heavily on this side of his business.

There will be 15-20 pages on the site to begin with and many more pages will be added over time. Room will be needed to expand any menu that's shown. The same menu will be shown on all pages and there may be sub-menus on some pages (e.g. Case studies, Accountancy news, Seminar listings etc). The initial pages are:

Static

- Home page - brief intro and wording to entice visitors into the site
- About us page – information on Andrew and the company
- Contact Us
- Useful links
- Personal clients
- Business clients
- Tax consultancy

Dynamic/growing, all with sub-menus

- Budget briefings
- Accountancy news
- Seminars
- Newsletters
- Your business
- Tax strategies
- Tax information
- Your money
- Useful tools

Andrew does not have a logo currently and uses only his name as his 'brand'. A copy of his business card and letter head can be found at http://www.clarihon.co.uk/alaw/alawscan001.jpg. The symbols on the business card are NOT his logo(s), just the logos from professional associations to which he belongs.

Examples of websites that are considered good are:

http://www.foot-ansteys.co.uk/

http://www.follettstock.co.uk/

http://www.winterrule.co.uk/index.html

Please let me know if you want any more information. If I can provide it I will.

What is required

The design should not look formulaic or completely typical of a financial/legal web site but should still look clean and professional.

There are no restrictions on colour schemes but a light or mainly white background is preferred.

If you are providing a fixed-width style design, please aim for 1024 wide (including space for scroll bars).

We need a design for the Home page and a generic inner page. As JPG will be fine initially. The winner will need to provide the designs as complete layered PSD files. No other format is acceptable.

It's fine to produce only the design for one of the pages to start with. If we like your concept, we'll ask for the other page to be designed.

Please use suitable stock photography where necessary. There are no photos or images available for use.

All pages must share a common look and general layout (with the exception of The Home page) and must feature a footer with a text version of the main navigation plus a copyright Andrew Law 2008 notice. The Home page must share the look and feel of the other pages. All pages will have one or more common main menus and sub-menus if relevant.

Where a main menu option leads to a page with further options, it will have a sub-menu. Please indicate how this sub-menu will operate/appear on the page(s). For example, the 'Your business' page will have at least 6 sub-pages and the 'Your Business' menu option will need to offer at least 6 sub-options when a viewer mouses over it. Please show how you want/expect this to look.

Each page will also contain the main contact information - phone number, e-mail address and postal address.

The rules

Designs will be 'filtered' by his marketing consultant and me before being put to my client for comment. Our thoughts will be fed back to you as soon as possible. Revised designs will be passed back to the client for further comment as soon as I have received them.

If I've forgotten anything, please let me know ASAP.
