Here's how it works:

Step 1: Logo contest

a) You'll sign up for a logo contest, where you'll use our simple, interactive creative brief to describe your vision for the perfect logo.
b) After your logo contest has been created, dozens of professional designers from all over the world will send you ideas.
c) Over 7 days, you'll collaborate and give feedback until you've narrowed it down to your favorite logo design.
d) After you've chosen a winning logo design, your designer will transfer you all the copyright and provide the necessary files for digital and print.

Step 2: Business card & Facebook cover design

a) 1-2 days after your logo contest is complete, you will receive an email reminder to claim your free business cards and Facebook cover.
b) You'll choose from 1 of 6 professionally designed templates to fit your business card and Facebook cover.
c) After you've selected your design style, you will be matched with an expert 99designs designer to help apply your new logo to your business card and Facebook cover template.
d) You'll be given a quick interactive brief to fill in order to let us know what customizations you would like with your business cards, and where you would like them shipped to once designed and printed.
e) Your designer will then get to work on your designs. You'll go through 2 rounds of feedback to ensure you're happy with the final look for your business cards and Facebook cover.
f) Once you've completed the project, your business card design will be securely processed by Vistaprint, printed, and shipped to your selected address.

What do I need to prepare for my logo design contest?

In general, you should come in with a vision for your logo, or an idea of the aesthetic you would like to convey. Minimalist, sleek and professional, or bold, bright and fun? Don't worry - you don't have to articulate this in detail yourself. Our interactive brief will prompt you with questions to gauge what style of logo you're looking for, and guide you through what you need throughout the process.

How long does it take?

7 days is the most common time range for a logo contest. During this period, you will go through a few rounds of feedback, narrowing down to your finalists, and finally, selecting your favourite logo from the winning designer. 

If you need rapid turnaround, you may select a shorter time period than 7 days to run your contest.

What happens after the logo contest finishes?

Once you have finalized your favourite design with the winning designer of your contest, you’ll be provided with the working files during the final files part of the project. Your designer should provide these, but feel free to ask for them during the handover stage.

You can choose from six premium paper stocks: Premium Matte, Premium Glossy, Recycled Matte, Uncoated, Pearl and Soft Touch. All paper stock options are available in either standard or rounded corners.

Yes. Once you have finalized your favourite design with the designer, you’ll be provided with these during the final files part of the project.

Your designer should provide these, but feel free to ask for them during the handover stage.

For copyright, each designer owns the copyright to their designs until they are declared a contest winner by a client, and the rights to the winning design are transferred over to the client. That transfer happens at the end of the contest, in the Design Handover stage. This gives both parties a chance to sign the Design Transfer Agreement.

After the winning design has been uploaded in the Design Handover process, and the copyright transfer is agreed to by both parties, copyright is seen to be transferred to the client.
