“Trading Tales” is the third book in the “Adventures of Thomas Leaf Monkey” and his group of friends. The story celebrates the importance of self-esteem, self-love, and self-acceptance.
Through engaging illustrations (created by another artist) and Katrina Maxwell‘s charming narrative, young readers learn the value of liking themselves just the way they are. This book encourages positive thinking, emotional growth, and a strong inner confidence.
When working on the book layout/typesetting, my main objective was to make the text perfectly visible, but without interfering with the structure of the illustrations and the rhythm they give to the story. Placing some short sentences outside of the text areas helped reinforce a few dialogues.
I also decided to keep the book cover design very simple, directing the readers’ eyes to the main image, which represents the beginning and focal point of the story.
