Powerhouse Protein got their new product label by running a design contest:
Powerhouse Protein Needs Innovative Label
Check out Powerhouse Protein's Product label contest…
WILL GUARANTEE PRIZE AFTER RECEIVING SUFFICIENT ENTRIES Powerhouse Protein is a company that produces a whey protein powder aimed at building lean muscle while maintaining and promoting overall health (i.e. each serving has 60% of your DV of vitamins and minerals). The branding strategy has two sides, so our target is at once the customers (parents of teenagers) and the consumers themselves (teenagers ages 14-18) Learn more at powerhouseprotein.com 1) We want parents of teenagers ages 14-18 to see the powder and be comfortable with it knowing that it benefits their health. 2) We want the teenagers to understand that the powder will help them build lean muscle and increase the results of their strength or athletic training. The powder is adaptable so it is meant for people with all types of goals including advanced athletes, lean muscle builders, and everyday users.
What's your vision?
The most important thing with this label is to differentiate it from the other labels out there that make it seem like the powder will make you massive. It should be sleek, modern, and convey the healthy aspects of the powder without falling into the 'fruity, ineffective, covered in leaves and natural symbols' category. Here are some specific specs that need to be included on the label: The label size is 6 inches tall by 17 inches long and will be wrapped around a PET bottle that is shiny (an image is attached). The format of the document should be .ai or .eps and I will have to edit some information on the nutrition facts label. Our company colors are green (#468847 in hexidecimal), black, and white. The label should consist of a front panel and a back panel divided similarly (though not as crowded) as the GNC label attached for reference. This GNC label is also one of my favorites for design. The front panel MUST include the following 4 figures in a nutritional fact highlights column: 1) 40g protein 2) 60% DV of 12 vitamins 3) 8.8g BCAAs 4) 96% approved in taste test The bottom of the front panel MUST also include the following lines of text (preferably small) Net Weight 1,092g (2.41 lbs) Serving scoop inside, but may settle beneath powder during shipping The front panel should also include the flavor of the shake: VANILLA MILKSHAKE, PURE, EFFECTIVE, HEALTHY WHEY PROTEIN POWDER and obviously POWERHOUSE PROTEIN. You can include the logo if you like but it is not mandatory The back panel needs to have space for a nutrition facts label, directions, and ingredients and also 3 tables (all attached in 2 excel documents). The nutrition facts label is blank but I will go in and edit it on illustrator after choosing the winning design. Also, on one of the back panels, include the bulleted list (attached), the website name www.powerhouseprotein.com, and a small area for me to include a brief paragraph of text. I know this is a lot of information, but if you have any questions do not hesitate to check out the site at www.powerhouseprotein.com or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. As long as all conditions above are met, any creative ideas and innovations are welcome!
Remember, label design should be sleek and modern and not fall into the "get massive and bulky" or "light, ineffective powder"..

And then… they selected a winner!
Dudika is a fantastic professional designer to work with. She really studied our brief, so was able to realize our logo concept with her great intuition for style and design. She was quick and keen to implement any feedback that we gave. The whole design process with Dudika was exciting as she made an effort to present her ideas so visually to us. We’re more than delighted with our new logo identity and look forward to collaborating again in the future.
Thank you, Dudika!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
