WatchMyThing.com is a new web site for Internet-connected devices, such as smart meters, heaters, machinery, buildings, sensors.
The "Internet of Things" is the next Internet - all the electrical and electronic devices in the world being connected to the Internet. This will bring huge savings in energy efficiency, as well as improvements in security and productivity.
Any device on the Internet can be connected to WatchMyThing.com. We store the data and provide the user with a web page where they can check on their device from anywhere in the world.
In the future WatchMyThing.com will also provide control and alert features.
- geeks and hackers, who are tinkering around trying to connect devices to the Internet (eg coffee machines, rockets, cars, 3d printers)
- business people, who want to save energy costs by getting information in real time from many different devices on one dashboard
- consumer households, who want to hook up a smart meter, door lock, air conditioner, spa heater, or other device to watch and control remotely.
- Thingmakers - companies that make devices, which they might like to be Internet-connectable
We are looking for a "character" to give personality to WatchMyThing.com. This could be like the Linux penguin, the Twitter bird, or "Duke" the Sun Java character.
Ideally, this character would give us a "theme", and the character could be re-used in web pages, animations, advertising, etc.
Right now we are mainly looking for a logo, which features this character.
We want a fun, irreverent brand that will put a smile on peoples' faces.
We do *not* want to convey images of Big Brother, of some unseen government spying on their things. People sign up for free because they have Things they want to watch from a remote location.
