How JTHTL started their logo design journey
JTHTL - Journal on Telecommunications and High Technology Law
In 2001, a group of University of Colorado law students founded the Journal on Telecommunications & High Technology Law (JTHTL). The Berkeley Electronic Press now ranks the JTHTL fifth among journals publishing articles on intellectual property. In 2005, the JTHTL also ranked sixth amongst communications law journals and 17th among all technology law journals. In other words, despite its youth, the JTHTL occupies a solid position among elite niche legal journals.
Telecommunications law includes law and policy pertaining to networks (cellular telephones, the internet, cable). We also cover many different topics in intellectual property and high technology law and policy.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Law professors, students, librarians, and other legal practitioners read the journal. Additionally, the journal is read by a number of policymakers in the field of telecommunications. We would like to appeal to our readers' sense of innovation and professionalism.
We're a law journal, but cover technology law. That means that we need something timeless, classic, and traditional, but with a tech/modern edge. Beyond that, it's up to you. Original designs only! You are designing for an intellectual property journal; please keep copyright and trademark infringement concerns in mind.
We want a new logo that we can use for print (on marketing materials and the cover of our issues) and for our website. We'd like to see several configurations incorporating a new graphical mark, "JTHTL", "Journal on Telecommunications and High Technology Law," and combinations thereof. We'd also like to see variations in single and multiple colors for the various uses.
We'll need vector and raster formats in CMYK and RGB color schemes (Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop Documents will do).
