After two-years with an off-the-shelf theme it's time to give Evolving Times a new look. Please design a simple logo and header and for the Evolving Times blog - www.evolvingtimes.com.
What's your vision?
Tagline: Exploring the Leading Edge of Thought Desired Color Scheme: Blue, Gold, Red Desired Style: Modern, movement, clean, organic Accepted File Formats: Standard Web Formats (.jpg, .gif or .png); Vector Formats (.eps, .pdf or .ai); Layered Formats (.psd or .tiff) The logo can be quite simple, a text effect or symbol. I often use a spiral in my designs. I love the logo for the Conscious Evolution group www.evolve.org. Something like that - but different - could work. Because of the nature of the site, I'm looking for something that has a feeling of forward movement, feels modern and clean but organic. You can see the spiral I've used in my existing designs here: http://www.box.net/shared/ok0hf3ci8g I still really like the look and feel of this one. While the content of my blog definitely moves into the realm of "new age" I am looking for a design that captures the evolutionary, spiritual aspects without crossing into that New Age look. When you are designing, imagine that you are appealing to the folks looking in the window and interested in what's going on in here, NOT the folks that are already singing their hearts out in the choir! The header for the site needs to be 960x110. Simple is good. It will be put into a modified version of the Revolution Theme. You can see a very early work in progress here: www.blogtest.edwardmills.com. If you look at it, please do not let the header I hacked together influence your creativity! ;) For color, you have two possible pallets to try: In a branding seminar the pallet that came up was Gold, Red and Orange. Personally I have no idea how you could tie those three colors together into a brand pallet or header, but the designer/teacher seemed to think it would work. The other possibility would be to stick with the blue I have used as the grounding color and pull the Gold and Red into the mix. Have fun, and play. I'll give feedback along the way. The right 1/3 of the header should be clean and simple enough to serve as a background for either subscription information for the blog, a banner ad, or other content. In addition to the fee, the winning designer will receive, if desired, a link to his/her website from the Evolving Times main page. This is a Pagerank 5 site (it shows as a 3 now because of the recent "Google slap." But I have removed the text link ads and requested a reinstatement of the previous PR).
