How Project Cycling started their logo design journey
I am developing this new site and hope to launch it in a few months. The site is an online community driven site for cyclists to find information, reviews and statistics for bikes and bike parts. The longer term vision will see this broaden to other aspects of cycling.

Cyclists of all levels
I need a logo for the top of the site, but also for general use elsewhere on the site and in other marketing material. My initial thoughts are that the logo should consist of an image which will become the true logo of the brand a separate image containing the words "projectcycling".
In the banner of the site these two element will be used together. Elsewhere just the image will be used as a stand alone logo image.
The image is likely to be used at about 80 pixels high in the banner and could be as wide as 130 pixels. The text element would need to be the same height and background colour as the image but could be as wide as 250-300 pixels.
I am open though to it being a single image that also incorporates the text within the logo but feel this might be too cluttered.
No definite colour scheme has been locked in for the site yet but it will be primarily white background in the body of the site with most text in black.
See the attached image for a sample page from the site.
