The Alberta Ingenuity Phytola Centre (“Phytola”; the name is derived from “phyto” meaning “plant” and “oleo” meaning “oil”) is a collaborative network of university-based scientists working to develop high-value oilseeds and specialty oils (e.g., canola/rapeseed and flax). We are a multidisciplinary team with expertise ranging from plant biotechnology to oil analysis and processing. A major distinguishing feature of Phytola is our emphasis on moving products from the laboratory to the marketplace - our vision is to “be a leader in the development of novel oilseeds and specialty oils—solving market needs in collaboration with industry ”, and our mission statement is “To provide market-responsive, oilseed biotechnology products & technology solutions in partnership with industry.
The Phytola team includes researchers from across Western Canada. We are seeking a creative, professional logo for use on all Phytola-related materials to showcase our innovative spirit and attract potential industrial and scientific partners from around the world.
The Phytola logo will reach a broad audience, most importantly industry collaborators and investors, scientific collaborators, prospective students and employees, but also various government agencies, oilseed producers/producer groups, and the general public.
We are looking for a professional, corporate-looking logo.
Many logos related to our research area include a stylized leaf and/or an oil drop – we would prefer something more original, although we may consider logos with these elements if they are fresh (we’ve seen a LOT of these logos, so it really must be something different!). The word “Phytola” should appear in a font that is clean and looks good at various sizes - our logo will appear on everything from letterhead to large posters. We have found that "Phytola" looks good in Optima or similar fonts but we are open to other ideas. Feel free to experiment with colors, but keep in mind that the logo should also look good if printed in grayscale or black/white.
The chosen logo must be made available in several formats (jpg, ai, pdf, eps, png). RGB values should be given for all colors.
Although we are not looking for a stylized leaf we will consider it if it is original.
We like the logos which can be found on the following pages:
