We are a newly formed start-up, creating an exciting new online education platform. We want to make online education much more interactive and social.
In the best classes we have taken, we have learned as much from our discussions and interactions with our fellow classmates and the instructor as we have from the lecture content of the course. Unfortunately, today most online education offerings don't do a great job of enabling this interaction... good news though, we intend to change that.
The courses we intend to offer are non-degree based covering a wide range of topics including (examples below):
-Academic subjects: Writing and Literature or History
-Social issues: Immigration Policy or National Security
-Life Stage topics: Parenting or Finding a New Job
-Hobby / enthusiast topics: Collector Cars or Photography
Our courses will each consist of around 20 video lectures, each of which will be 30 minutes in length. The video lectures will feature expert instructors who are highly knowledgeable and well regarded in their fields of expertise. We will film and produce all of the video content for courses offered through our website. The students will be able to consume these lectures on their own schedule / at times of their own choosing. During the video lectures, students will be able to engage in discussions with their fellow classmates and the instructor.
Our target audience will differ by course - with some courses appealing more to people in their late twenties or early thirties - while other courses will appeal more to people in their fifties or sixties. We expect the audience will be split nearly equally between men and women.
With this in mind, we want the logo to convey both the fact that we are creating a fun, social brand - as well as inspire confidence in the quality of our course material.
The company is named Sympoz - pronounced: [sym-pohz] - as in symposium. We have some concerns about the potential for users to mistakenly pronounce it: [sym-pahz] and with this in mind are open to the concept of including a "macron" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macron) over the "o" in the logo treatment... some people have suggested that the macron could even be designed to look like a graduation cap with a tassel.
We would like the main color in the logo to be Orange - specifically: ed8a1d
Other colors in our palette include several Blues: 4c8eb0 (background color for the site), 0066ff, 9ad8f9 and Green: 27b342
Use of the "macron" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macron) over the "o" is not a must, but it is encouraged.
