I’m developing a photojournalism project to portray the essential World Cup experience in New York City.
My plan is to hit up various locales in New York City - bars, beer gardens, Central Park - where people are gathering in mass for the games and document the experience using an HTC Incredible that is generously being donated by Verizon.
The adventure will kick off on Saturday, June 12, when I’ll be at three different locations for the three matches scheduled that day, finishing off with the ENG vs. USA game that night. For the rest of the tournament, I'm going to select 10-12 more games to covers with the whole deal culminating at the Championship game on July 11.
The photo content will be pushed out in real time via Tumblr at http://8000milesaway.tumblr.com/.
World Cup fans, serious and casual alike, looking to digest an array of content online during the 2010 tournament.
I'm in need of a sharp logo for the site that incorporates the abbreviated title - 8KMA, the subtitle: World Cup 2010 /// NYC /// In Photos, and an image that indicates the tie to the World Cup (e.g. a silhouette of the World Cup trophy). To get a better idea, check out the rough 8KMA logo on the site currently.
