I am a writer who found a home in teaching as full-time paying work. I'm setting up a side, web-based business to pay for my addiction to taking road trips every summer with my kids, ages 12, 9 and 6. I love the open road (particularly the American West).
Travelling inspires me to learn more, and I read widely ahead of each road trip. My East Coast road trips have focused on literature--Moby Dick fed my 2008 trip to Massachusetts and Last of the Mohicans will take me to upstate New York next summer. My Western road trips have followed Route 66 and the Rushmore-Yellowstone route.
What does this have to do with my logo? Well, the home page of my web site will feature a mother with a girl in her lap, reading a magazine to her little girl, with a bright blue sky above them. I'm hoping to tap into kids imaginations with the products I sell.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
There are quite a few sites on the Internet that sell magazines, but my site will focus on kids' magazines. My target audience will be parents and teachers interested in comparing magazines and learning which magazines will be the best buys for their children's reading level, subject interest, etc.
I'm looking to illustrate the name, "Mags4Kids" (the ".com" is optional). The background will be a light blue sky. I also need to get across the idea that my site sells magazines, either as a background or as part of the logo.
I tried a little design of my own on Illustrator, but it was far from perfect. It might be a good starting point.
