Logo types to explore
I am torn between using a character/pictorial or a letter mark. I could go either way, so show me whatever you think is really good. The attached image is a stock image that I am using on temporary business cards while I re-think promoting my business - I kind of like it because he's cute and memorable. At the same time, my clients are spending real money and expect sophistication, so any character can't be too cute-sey. I like this particular image because, to me anyway, he conveys a sense of curiosity and I would like to think that my work has an intellectual component. On lettering/font- please no cursive. I like all upper case, though some people have said it's difficult to read (don't know what's wrong with them!) Here are links to two designers whose logos I think are effective and have a feel I would like (with no pictorial, but maybe could be integrated) They both say classic and formal, but stylish, not stodgy. I think I slightly prefer Ruthie's for the fun hatching in the square-a reference to Chinoiserie- it's slightly less serious which makes it a bit more lively. http://www.ruthiesommers.com/#!__h-o-m-e/18 http://marymcdonaldinc.com/ The business is based in Houston, Texas, and I do both primary residences and vacation homes. My clients are over 40 years old and live in million dollar plus homes. They are well-educated and well-travelled, and tend to be interested in art and design. My work is traditionally based but integrates all eras- think 18th century English settee paired with Barcelona chairs (see photo) or plush camelback sofa with aboriginal art and African artifacts. I mix western and Asian and tribal elements freely, using both modern and traditional artwork. I like vibrant, strong, adventurous and not too girly.
