Pilot Point is a small town of 5,000 people in North Texas. At its center lies an authentic and charming town square established in the 1850’s with a gazebo as its focus, surrounded by vintage buildings. The square has suffered from urban development, has some dilapidated and abandoned buildings, and is in need of revitalization.
4Square is a grassroots organization established to revitalize the town square.
The primary implication of the name is positive support. “We are 'For' our 'Square'.” The name also implies:
1. The four corners of the town square.
2. The Main Street Program created by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, utilizes a 4-point approach to revitalization - organization, promotion, design, and economic restructuring.
3. By definition the word "foursquare" means an effort marked by firm, unwavering conviction.
A bank on the square was used in the filming of 1967 Academy Award winning movie Bonnie Clyde. http://texashideout.tripod.com/movie2.html

Although anyone can join the 4Square organization, we want to especially motivate young people living in Pilot Point ages 16 - 34 to join the organization and activity participate in supporting the square.
These people have not been involved. It's hasn't been a "cool" thing to do and the task seems overwhelming. 4Square will provide a focus and a rallying point.
We are looking for a hip, contemporary look that will appeal to our target group of people 16 - 34.
At the same time, we are in Texas, which has many iconic symbols, which resonate with people of all ages. Don’t hesitate to try to use them. If you want to accept the challenge of blending Texas traditional icons with a contemporary look have at it. Invent something. We will provide feedback.
Include the name 4Square in the logo. We prefer that spelling but are open to other approaches.
If you can work the words “Pilot Point” into the logo so much the better but it is not a firm requirement.
Tying in an image of a square or four points of a square seems like a good idea but not mandatory.
The Gazebo has been used in images since it was built in 1976. A picture of it is attached.
We want to excite and motivate citizens to urgent action and have fun doing it!. Your logo will be the catalyst for that effort.
The challenge: Create an image that when you put it on a t-shirt, you'll like to wear it and your friends will say, "I want one!"
Have fun. Go for it.
