I have my own business boarding and training dogs. I board in my home, and strive to create a loving, stress-free environment for dogs while their owners are away. There are no kennels, the dogs sleep inside at night, and have an acre to romp around in during the day. I only take a few dogs at a time, and they are truly members of the family while they are here. For training, I offer Board & Train, and individual sessions. All training is positive reinforcement, reward-based training only. I have the best job in the world! I love it, and have fun with it every day. The dogs who come here have a great time, too. That joy should come through in every aspect of my business, including my logo.
I've been in business for about 6 years, and re-located 2 years ago from San Francisco to a small town in the Sierra Foothills in California. My clients are local as well as from San Francisco (2 hours away). My typical clients are middle-class to upper middle-class; they believe their pets are family, and are willing to spend money to ensure their pets happiness and well-being. Although my prices are on the high side for local folks, I have very competitive prices *for what I offer* -- my services and facility are fairly unique. I am professional, fully licensed, experienced and trained, but I offer an informal home environment for the dogs, in which they will get the love and attention they are used to receiving at home.
Many of my clients find me online (search engines, online review sites such as Yelp.com, etc) or by word of mouth. I do some community-based advertising, as well. I prefer to reach out to computer-savvy clients, since this will pre-screen somewhat -- they will see my services and prices online and only contact me if they are really interested.
I actually love my current logo (see http://www.sierra-dogs.com ). HOWEVER, I made it myself a long time ago, and the quality of the file is terrible, and it's just not practical for a lot of the uses I'd like to put it to.
What I like about the existing one, in no particular order: 1) soft bright colors (blues, greens, yellows), 2) it's fun & child-like or naive, without being too cutesy, 3) it conveys the idea of dogs frolicking 4) it conveys place: I'm near the Sierra mountains, among the trees, and my place is kind of like a cabin in the woods and fields, 5)it's an original design w/ no clip-art.
So, what I would like is a new logo (vector file format) that is INSPIRED by the current one (I own that image, so feel free to take what you need from it, or not). But feel free to offer new ideas that convey a similar feel. It's fairly easy for me to change the colors on my website in order to complement a new logo. (My current business cards are a pretty yellow with the same logo on my website, but I can change that up as necessary.) Maybe a tad more stylized? or simpler? More print friendly? Something for my website, but also for print ads, business cards, and promotional materials. I like fonts that are simple and easy to read. Text should be "Sierra Dogs"
