Pancakes & Peonies - boutique bakery
In addition to being a mother of two, I recently graduated from a professional pastry program in San Francisco. For my final project I created a "Boutique Bakery" specializing in simple, but elegant pastries with an emphasis on the product packaging/image/logo. I am creating a bakery catering business that will deliver fresh baked breads, croissants, scones, cookies as well as homemade granola, yogurt and jams to your home or office. Most items will be delivered in glassware with the logo etched into the glass. I am looking for a classic design for an upscale client.
The name Pancakes & Peonies describes two of my favorite things. The imagery in the name pretty much sums up the look and feel I would like for the logo - implies breakfast but also the image of a beautiful, light and airy flower. I briefly (understatement) started a blog with this title 4 years ago. I have always liked the name, and since I already own the url, I am going to use it for my company. After the logo design, there will absolutely be a web design competition forthcoming!
Thanks for taking a look at my story. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
My target audience is two-fold. One, I intend to market myself to the San Francisco/Marin County business community. This is an environment where people care about food, the entrepreneurial spirit and finding the next cool thing. Two, I seem to be tapped into a group of friends that like to host trunk shows. I would like to position myself with the women who throw these daytime parties as their go to source for breakfast pastries. Think, PTA meeting in the morning? Let's have Pancakes & Peonies deliver!
The pastries that I bake are very rustic. Check out this website for some inspiration:
Also, Dean & Deluca has an appeal to me.
The logo will be used on product packaging and on the web. There will be some printed materials like business cards.
The logo should be comprised of a symbol or mark that could be embroidered, printed, or etched by itself onto items like baskets, jars, or boxes. This mark can be combined with logotype for "Pancakes and Peonies" where space is available, but the smaller mark should be able to stand alone when applied to objects.
I don't really want to limit anyone's creativity. I prefer using script font in combination with print. Nothing too cutesy or kitschy. I like charcoal grey for the text. A splash of color can be incorporated in the design, but it has to be able to stand by itself with or without color. The design can also use the phrase Boutique Bakery or it can just say Pancakes & Peonies - whichever looks better!
