We want our logo to portray stability, expertise, and a serious dedication to our technology and the environment. Although solar is still perceived as an emerging technology, we do not want to the logo to paint us as trendy or fly-by-night rookies. A significant amount of our work is in design & engineering, so our logo should look straight, uniform, and professional.
A star (or sun) should be incorporated in the design... but should not be as literal or childlike as "Bright Horizons" (http://brighthorizons.com).
"Brightstar" is one word, so the "S" should not be emphasized.
Stylistically, the logos of many large corporate construction firms and banking/finance firms convey the confidence we want to be our image. In the "Competitor Logos" file we attached, logos which have an air of severity and competence in our opinion are Borrego, alteris, Sunpower, and E2solar. These are our peers.
This logo will be used in multiple formats, including our website, letterhead, business cards, company vehicles, and shirts worn by our crew. Use of color is vital but should translate to b&w.
