Zabi comes from two Chinese words: “Za”, meaning to break, and “Bi”, a partition or barrier. Zabi literally translates as breaking barriers.
The art world has always been full of intimidating galleries, abstruse academic writing and private openings where “VIP only” signs are larger than the artworks beyond them.
Crazy? We think so.
We would like to play a part in demolishing barriers.
We have a vision of an art world that is open and inviting, with a free flow of information. We want to see an art world that is more connected and accessible, where everyone can enjoy the very best art by global artists wherever we live and whatever language we speak.
We think the art world could be a whole lot more intimate, personal, and fun too. After all an artwork is more than an object. We want to create experiences of art that become stories people tell about their lives.
