Design a memorable logo for a scientific organization seeking to fight climate change!

IG3IS seeks to use measurements of atmospheric concentrations to inform policy-makers and decision-makers by showing them where to cut greenhouse gases, which greenhouse gases to cut, and whether these actions have an impact. GOAL: We are looking to develop a logo which clearly shows to our clients that we are a service/support tool for them to use in creating the most efficient and cost effective actions against climate change. We want to appear established (since we are hosted by the World Meteorological Organization). However, we want to make sure we do not appear like a bland scientific company, rather, a dynamic support service that can be used by several, very different sectors. STYLE: • modern • clean • dynamic DESIGNS WE LIKE: 1. We like the creativity associated with "logo #1" attached below as it's fingerprint like design is intended to be a play on the phrase "carbon footprint" 2. We like the creativity associated with "logo #2" as it paints a carbon molecule orbiting earth for an organization that has a carbon orbiting satellite 3. We like "logo #3" because it is a clean logo that clearly alludes to the satellites orbiting the earth gathering carbon information which come from that organization 4. We like "logo #4" again because it has the carbon molecule replacing the dot above the "i," and it shows the letters blending together to depict "integration" which is part of their organization name 5. We love the creativity associated with "logo #5" because it clearly shows the forest burning that is associated with the work of their organization 6. We like "logo #6" because it shows the path of a satellite, like one which they operate, observing both the natural environmental and the locations of pollution 7. We like "logo #7" because it is clean, and it alludes to the transport of pollution around the planet with the darker colored stripes 8. We like the creativity of "logo #8" in that it uses the greek symbol for sigma (to relate to the name) in an orbital pattern (to relate to what the organization does) SOME IDEAS TO GET STARTED: 1. When spoken, IG3IS sounds like "I guess." Something we joke about in our organization is how our mission seeks to turn away from guessing, as we are providing measurements that lesson guessing. With this in mind, something like the transformation of a question mark could be incorporated 2. More specifically, one member of our group has thought about the flipping of a question mark, with the earth within the curve of the upside down question mark, and the dot at the end of the upside down question mark serving at the first "i" in "ig3is" 3. Also, one member has thought about the second "i" in "ig3is" service as a smoke stack, with the "3" coming out of it as a smoke plume

IF YOU WANT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON IG3IS: Atmospheric measurements of greenhouse gas (GHG) concentrations have revealed the rapid and unceasing rise of global GHG concentrations due to human activity. This has led to a rise in global temperatures, glacier melt, sea-level rise, and other evidence of negative impacts on society. In response to this mounting evidence, national, state, and city governments, private enterprises and individuals have been accelerating efforts to reduce GHG emissions while still meeting the needs for global development and increasing energy access. With this motivation, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and its partners are implementing an Integrated Global GHG Information System (IG3IS) that will serve as an international coordinating mechanism to guide greenhouse gas emission-reduction actions on the basis of sound scientific evidence. IG3IS seeks to combine atmospheric measurements – aka “top-down” measurements – and emission inventory data – aka “bottom-up” measurements – so as to decrease uncertainty associated with emissions data, and therefore better inform emission reduction plans. This strategy will help a multitude of organizations accomplish both near and long-term emission reduction goals. These goals are summarized into the four main objectives of IG3IS: 1. To provide information to reduce uncertainty of GHG emission data reported by each country 2. To provide information to governments and private industry that will help locate and measure previously unknown emission reduction opportunities such as fugitive methane emissions from industrial sources 3. To support subnational government entities such as cities and states that represent large GHG source regions (e.g., megacities) with actionable information on their GHG emissions to evaluate and guide progress towards emission reduction goals, and 4.
