Art & Design
***UPDATE*** After consideration we would like to go with a bird as our symbol. We like pretty, elegant bird illustrations that are NOT cartoonish or too abstract. I will post some images below to show you the style we like. We're partial to a hummingbird. Please see our notes under each image to learn what we like about it. Keep in mind that we still want a stand-alone symbol that can be made into jewelry, pendants, pins, buttons, etc. It would be nice if it could somehow be blended into the word Bliss (so the symbol = bird+bliss) but it doesn't have to be. ****** Established in 2013 by husband and wife team Steve and Jennifer Stay, we started Coloring Pages Bliss to capitalize on the adult coloring trend we could see happening. Jennifer is the artist who makes the coloring pages and Steve does the technical web and video stuff. Jennifer originally taught herself to draw and color as a means of coping with chronic pain. She found that drawing and coloring not only helped to distract her from the pain but became a wonderful passion that brought her a lot of happiness and bliss. Hence the name "Coloring Pages Bliss." In addition to creating and selling coloring pages, we have also established a youtube channel where Jennifer creates coloring tutorials, does coloring tool reviews and more. So we're wanting to rebrand ourselves from "Coloring Pages Bliss" to simply "Coloring Bliss" (because we now do more than just coloring pages.) We are also soon launching printed-products such as books, cards, bookmarks, stickers, etc. So our new logo needs to look good large and small. Our audience is overwhelmingly female of all ages (our youtube channel is spread fairly evenly of females ages 20 to 70.) But our target age group is 45 to 65 years old (as they are the ones willing to make purchases.) So we definitely want the logo to have a feminine look and feel. Note: this is what we're currently thinking, but would definitely welcome your own thoughts and ideas. We know that we want our website and cover pages of our books to be on a clean, white background. We want the focus to be more on the word "Bliss" as opposed to "Coloring". We're a very happy brand and we want the logo to put a smile on people's faces. And we want the logo to incorporate a symbol or mark of some sort that can be used as a web favicon, could be made into jewelry, a button, a pin, etc. (See below for ideas of what this mark might be.) Our current ideas: with the rebrand we want a clean design that looks great on white. Our current dominant color is purple (Jennifer's favorite color) but it doesn't HAVE to be purple with the rebrand. But we are thinking we would still like to have white be our primary background color in web and print and something like purple being an accent color we can use in our web buttons and in our print-product packaging. (For example, if we're shipping out a coloring book, the coloring book cover will be made of white glossy paper. We will then wrap the book in a white tissue paper with a ribbon of the accent color. We will affix a label containing our logo to the tissue paper and ribbon to keep it closed.) We would also like some kind of symbol or mark as part of the logo. For instance, a competitor of ours has their name with a butterfly (so don't use a butterfly.) But some kind of feminine symbol would be nice (e.g. leaf, flower, dragonfly, bee?) Or maybe we incorporate something related to coloring? Some of the popular coloring tools are colored pencils, markers and gel pens. Maybe a feminine, stylized version of one of those? Regardless it needs to look happy and blissful and be able to stand on its own. Another idea on the symbol/mark: maybe it's blended into, or part of the word "Bliss"? And feel free to play around with colors. I mentioned wanting a dominant color on white, but the name is "Coloring Bliss" which could also support something very colorful–a variety of colors. With all that said, what we're primarily looking for is something that appeals to a female audience, feels very happy and "blissful" and puts a smile on people's faces.
