How Creative Spark started their logo design journey
We need a new logo for our art center which will be launched as we begin a new brochure design and revamp our website (http://www.creativespark.org) . The art center is a place of excitement, fun, free thinking, creativity, and joy for all ages. We serve about 400 students a week and reach audiences of over 50,000 a year.
Creative Spark Center for the Arts
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
Our logo should reflect our philosophy: Everyone has a creative spark and learning the arts should be fun. We have previouly used Michaelangelo's two hands that adorn the Sistine Chapel but we are in need of a fresh image. The design should be playful, easily replicatable and create excitement. Our students are all ages so we don't want anything too childish. Or too slick. The art center is known as a place of free thinkers and tolerance so something untraditional would be best. The "spark" in our name might be a good place to start thinking.
You can learn about Creative Spark at http://www.creativespark.org. We operate in three aspects: a faculty of 30 teachers provide excellent music, art, dance, drama and writing instruction to about 400 students a week. We also have an arts infused preschool. Secondly, we tour professional performances each year that represent the best of the world's cultures. These appear in our own facilty, in schools and other venues and amount to over 100 performances each year. Thirdly, we use the arts an an agent of social change to increase tolerance and reach underserved communities.
- Item 1...Creative Spark
- smaller print: Center for the Arts
- something artistic and fun
- Originality and creativity are the biggest selling points.
- Item 1...not too slick
- not childish
- We really don't want our web address in the logo and many early designs have an incorrect address anyway.
- Some of the early designs are too cluttered
- Some of the early designs are to "clip art"
