skwong78 got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Create a Vintage Logo for the First Authentic Hawaiian Restaurant in Taiwan
Check out skwong78's Logo design contest…
Hawaii Grill will be the name of our Hawaiian Restaurant in Taiwan. We will be providing the first authentic Hawaiian dining experience in Taiwan and want our customers, first and foremost, to feel the Spirit of Aloha. Upon entering, we want our customers to feel as if they have entered an island paradise, different from their everyday reality. Our target demographic will be single, young professionals, aged 18-35. We are hoping to appeal to Experiencers and Strivers (i.e. those with expendable assets and who are willing to spend on socializing). We feel our business can meet the needs of this group by providing a product that is new, trendy and that gives them the image they desire amongst their peers. This is the image and feelings we wish our logo to evoke.
Logo types to explore
First off, I would like to say that I'm considering first off of using this logo for my large signage outside the restaurant. However the image needs to be scalable so that I also may use it for my menu, website, print materials, etc. I would like my image to convey a sense of Vintage Hawaii. I have included several images, two of which I have grabbed off the internet and another that is a sketch I drew up. The first image consists of dolphins, flowers and a palm tree. I choose this image mainly for the Hawaii text. I envison a font similar to this arching across image. The second image contains the text, "North Shore" at the top. I chose this image mainly to show the kind of weathered look I am searching for. Both images are of the vintage type which I hope to include in my logo. I hope to get this weathered look along with the look as if my logo was painted on a wooden surface with the grain lines. The third image is my sketch of my general idea. I don't have professional tools to work with and neither the professional skill of creating something useful so I'm sorry. I hope, like I mentioned above, that the Hawaii text will be in some type of vintage script type of font, arching rather than straight, while the Grill portion in more of a block font. I was thinking maybe two to three flowers (hibiscus, plumeria, bird of paradise) would be nice along with a palm tree perhaps. And some big, green, leafy leaves (ti leaves, banana leaves, etc.) around. I hope this is useful. If there's any one thing I'm really looking for in the design is this vintage look. If you google image vintage hawaiian signs you will get a feel of what I'm looking for. Thanks for your help and I look forward to all of your amazing proposals.
