nevanshaw got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Create a logo for Silver Queen Cafe, a small, family-friendly, locally-sourced restaurant.
Check out nevanshaw's Logo design contest…
Silver Queen Cafe is a small, family-friendly restaurant in a diverse community in Baltimore City, Maryland, USA. The restaurant focuses on regional cuisine, drawing on the long culinary history of the state, including its southern influences, as well as that of a port city. Families are a large part of our community, and our atmosphere will reflect our customers. Accessible, healthy, local, seasonal food is what we do. The phrase Silver Queen refers to a variety of corn that was exclusive to this region (the Chesapeake Bay region) through the late 70s. Most of us grew up with this staple in our diet, and have fond memories of the taste. Our logo will be included on our website, our identity package, and will need to work as a decal on one of our windows, and an awning.
Other color requirements
I'd like to explore the following colors: Yellows: Energy, intellect, fun and youth. Greens: Growth, harmony and success. Let designers make suggestions:
Nothing too precious, or cute. If you choose to incorporate corn into the logo, please don't make it too obvious. Corn in an abstract manner is fine. The color of Silver Queen corn is a silvery white, not yellow, not bi-color. We would also like to see some designs without corn as an element. Be creative! I notice that so far (13 designs), all the designers seem to be doing a variation of the same thing. Please, come up with your own designs, don't copy another's idea. Be unique. I don't want to see so many versions of the same thing. Also note, we are not a coffee house. Please do not use coffee cups as a design element
