Art & Design
SLAP is an online community that connects artists and producers with consumers interested in art, on a local level. SLAP makes the process of connecting very simple and straightforward. SLAP as an acronym stands for Support Local Art & Production (but we aren't leading with it as an acronym - it's a brand name. Sex: Will probably skew slightly female. Age range: 26-50 Education: College Degree Needs/Desires: To be different. To be hip. To have something no one else has. Sustainability. Support local entrepreneurship. Problems: Mass production and corporations don’t speak their language. Possible interests: Handmade. Art. Painting. Furniture Design. Letterpress. Entrepreneurship. Sustainability. WHAT IS THE TONE OF THE BRAND? Edgy, yet approachable. Sleek, minimal, and attractive. Positive, educational, and informative. Creative, compelling, engaging, off-beat, hipster. People who are interested in brands like TOMS, Warby Parker, LSTN, would be interested in SLAP.

This logo design is for an art community and while the first thing that comes to mind may be a paint brush, we prefer the logo to represent the various tools an artist can use without being too overt or obvious. Things like paint, hammer, brush, pen/pencil, camera, etc. For fonts. We like Promixa Nova, Helvetica Neue, Tisa Sans. Fonts with families that have many different weights. Note: The word SLAP is a loud by nature. We think subtlety will go a long way in conveying the tone and direction of the brand. Thanks!

And then… they selected a winner!
This is our 3rd time working with Nicika2010. The first time was for our logo- they were the winner of the contest. We worked again with Nicika2010 to design our business cards and most recently icon graphics for our website. Nicika2010 is always very responsive and makes revisions quickly. We have been very happy with everything we've received and will be working with Nicika2010 again in the future.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
