My name is Neil. I am 44 years young. My background is quite varied - financial, commercial, public relations and corporate. I have worked for large corporations like Rio Tinto and more recently for Australia's largest communication (PR) firm.
I left that business in December and have set up a new business/consultancy with just me (sole trader). I'm passionate about helping professional services firms eg accountants, lawyers, engineering firms.
Because my expeirence is so varied I can help in a number of ways. For example, my current client is a 40-person business, about $8M in fees. I have been engaged to prepare a 3-year strategy and one-year business plan. My first step though is research - with clients, partners and staff. From there I will run a workshop and then work with the partners to prepare the action plan. I also would like to do some coaching with key staff. This particular company is looking to find a 'big brother' so an interesting time in its life cycle.
In terms of the name of my business - my grandfather's name was Finau. He was an amazing man - born, lived and worked in Tonga - a small island in the Pacific near Fiji. He lived quite a life and although his Christian name has pretty much nothing to with my consultancy - I hope my business is as honest and resiliant as he was.
I live in Brisbane, Australia - on the east coast.
Small to medium sized professional services firms with a passion to grow successfully.
It will be the managing partner or the leadership team that engages me.
I am looking for a fresh logo which I will put on my business card, email block and, eventually website.
But first things first is a logo.
I suppose it is fair to say that my clients are fairly conservative but at the same time I need to demonstrate I provide fresh thinking and can guide real change.
I don't want to be someone who comes in and out but a trusted advisor for the long term.
