Logo types to explore
This logo design is the begining of a complete makeover of the company image, marketing, and website. What started as a hobby has suddenly morphed into a design business and I need a polished and unified look for CogKnits' presence. Sudden success (magazine covers and patterns published in print with my web address - www.cogknits.com) make image a high priority. The logo will go on business cards, be incorporated into the website banner, and appear on the letterhead of design proposals and invoices. Online advertising will also use the logo. It's important that it work with both online and print medium, and a bonus but not essential if a black & white logo is still readable. It's possible that the logo may be used as a ball band (a sort of label for balls of yarn) for a brand of yarn in the future. If an icon or favicon can be created from the logo awesome! My target audience is 20 to 40 year old female, knitting enthusiasts. They predominately knit small gifts for friends and family as well as larger items for themselves and for their homes. I attribute the resurgence of knitting to a modern attempt to balance our high-paced technology filled lives. It's soothing and calming, a return to simpler times, and traditional values of self sufficiency. The logo should reflect this. The company name, CogKnits, is a bit of word play - drawn from cognition. My designs are well thought out, unique, and planned to the last detail; each stitch pattern centered, all i's dotted and t's crossed. I've used different slogans: 1.Patterns for the thinking knitter. 2. Intelligent design for the discriminating kntiter. (though not keen on the religious right connotations) 3. Thoughtful patterns The design should be old-fashioned, perhaps retro, with Martha Stewart -like colors, and maybe an embossed or printed on paper kind of feel. Definitely not glossy and hight-tech. I prefer soft blues and greens with brown, but have an open mind. Perhaps silly, but I find the type of art you find on beer coasters really appealing! I guess I like circles.

Nickie was awesome to work with! I loved her designs and she took time to get them perfect for me and my business! I thought the process went smoothly and she was always available to make changes or ask questions. She was very creative and thought of things I wouldn't have been able to. I would love to have her work on some of my other ideas and designs!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
