Check out the i in i Care, if you look at it long enough, it looks like a person and the subtle heart in Brokers, was a very nice touch. How yachtservices started their logo design journey
I recently sold my partnership in a similar company to a large global operator that is very busy acquiring companies in the Caribbean with the aim of dominating the regional market. They have lots of resources and are agressive and will succeed probably in achieving a large volume of business. I am basically trying to start afresh in what is already a very competitive local market, and this will be a David vs Goliath affair. I hope to establish my niche in a more specialised and more personalised service aimed perhaps at a second tier clientele (yachts in a smaller size range than the truly grand private yachts - ie 80-140ft yachts instead of 150 to 300 foot vessels). The business model is predominantly concierge services for large yachts and this will certainly start as the bread and butter income , but I hope to move towards more technical specialised services as time goes on. At this point I hope to aim my business towards the slightly lower echelon in the industry - crews, first mates, captains of smaller yachts with the object of retaining them as clients as they grow in the industry and become captains of larger vessels.
My reputation is for humble service and personal hard work rather than arriving in dress whites and managing a more costly operation.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
The primary clientele are yacht crews and captains - a young, modern, serious, professional, a very international and well travelled group, but carrying large responsibility and very serious about their work. They are great clients - very appreciative of good help, and they also know how to have fun in their off time. I think a different approach will be appreciated by this clientele.
A secondary clientele are the other industry professionals - management companies, brokers, sales agents, ship builders, parts suppliers etc who need services rendered in the islands.
Apart from there being different tiers of Superyachts (megayachts) there are also two different categories - Motor Yachts (generally more money, require more concierge services) and Sailing Yachts (tend to be more discerning, require more specialised services, a more Do it Yourself crowd). My speciality seems to be tending more towards the sailing yachts although I do not want to ignore the other vessels of course. http://www.superyachtart.com has great images in both categories - I really like the way this site looks.
I need a logo that is going to stand out and be the centerpiece of all advertising and promotion. The challenge is that everyone uses logos that are profiles of yachts and this will be difficult to escape.
Please do not submit any clip art or other generic copies.
The logo needs to look good in black and white and also in two color use (embroidered on a dark shirt, for example). Generally I prefer that there are not many colors used.
A portion of the business will come from clients who select a business card from a shelf with 6 0r 7 competitors - so it would definitely help if the logo stands out.
The logo needs a tag line :Yacht Agent and Marine Services" if possible.
