I am the Director of Operations for a development company in the British Virgin Islands, we develop high end resort and villa properties in the Caribbean.
We are the kind of place and company where we work in shorts and t-shirts and going to work sometimes means going on a boat, or a few. The current project is on an island with no more than 200 residents, it's postcard perfect, with white sand for miles and a reef full of marine life. You can snorkel for your own lobster lunch.
It's a relaxed, eco-sensitive island, no paved roads, you don't lock your car or your room, there is no crime, everyone is your friend. The hotel is going to be one of only 3 beach hotels on the island and will be the nicest but nothing too posh or over the top, the point is to be relaxed, no shoes, active and outdoors, sandy and happy.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Our audience is young active (30+) all the way to exploring parents with children. Active people, everyone from windsurfers and surfers, hikers, bikers, to mom and dad with 3 kids wanting to play in the sand and surf, bring their kids to learn how to sail, want to trek and explore, eat lobsters bbq'ed on the beach and make your own drinks at an honor bar. it's seriously cool, hip and laid back. No clubs, bars, malls, movie theatres, it's about calm, peaceful, meeting people, being in the water, on a boat, and watching the stars while having drinks on the beach at night.
No palm trees, waves, nothing that screams too beachy. I'd like you to have some fun, a sense of humour, think about Neptune, or Poseidon (one and the same), perhaps a triton, puffer fish, lobster, eel... mermen/maids. It cant be too intricate because it needs to be logo'ed onto shirts, stationary, towels, so a good image AND a good presentation of the name is needed so we can use both or one or the other. I want this to stand out as a brand, so nothing that people need to look too hard at to understand what is going on. Don't get too Picasso.
I won't restrict colour as yet, but stay in moderation.
Not Florida, think desert island like in Lost (the TV show).
