How David11 started their logo design journey
We are a leading Promotional Product Company who has enjoyed a nice steady growth over the last 13 years. We started the business from our home & now have an office/warehouse and 7 staff. We are passionate about our business and our clients. We are extremely service orientated with a "whatever it takes attitude" and our clients love that about us..
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Our main clients are government agencies, councils, corporate business & marketing companies. We also service small business, sporting clubs etc...
Just about anyone!! Our business involves working with their logo's and branding all day long.. so it is essential that we get ours right.
We have really loved our current logo, but it is now time for a change. This is the first most crucial step. Once this new identity has been created, we will embark on a brand new website and a host of marketing materials which will require much on going design work.
The new logo needs to stand out but not be too complicated. It needs to be fresh and show that we are dynamic, passionate and "now". We are thinking a 2 or 3 color logo. We like a nice earthy lime colour, with maybe black or charcoal, but would love to see other color options. It is not to have any half tones or shading and it needs to be easily reproduced for embroidery as well as printing!
You can access our website at http://www.productology.com.au to see our current logo. The website design is now quite old, flat and very dull looking.. but it will give you a feel for where we are currently..
As further direction... now that we have had many submissions, We have really appreciated everyones input so far... One of the challenges that we face is that the Productology name is long... and most designers are using the word in full and then adding a symbol to the front which just elongates it even more.. Being a promotional product company, it is important to us that our logo works on a variety of backgrounds both light and dark and not lose itself. This is
what we saw with that design that we awarded 3 stars too. We also got a sense of "Productology is a strong company" from that design. We also seem to like a design that brings a 3D aspect to it...
For further direction, we would maybe like to see a clever way to add to the word itself. Maybe make the graphic part of the word. If a new symbol is to be created for us, maybe it needs to somehow be incorporated into the logo but not by removing any of the letters.. maybe working around it with design or through it... This way, we do not increase its width any further. When we first designed our current logo, you will see that we split the word into 2 to get away from the long look and to give it height. We felt at the time this made it more "punchy".. Another thing that we just thought of is a concept that we have used in our marketing from time to time and keen to explore this.. that Productology stands for or means - the science of Promotional Products.. We don't want to include the words as such, but somehow convey the concept.. Hope this helps in some way.. :)
