Accounting & Financial
This page is for the biography of our Executive Editor Janet Alvarez. The goal is to highlight her accomplishments. Our target audience is other journalists, producers, and editors. Janet goes on a lot of TV and radio shows. We want the producers from TV and radio shows to look at this page and decide that they would like to invite Janet on their show. This is a highly educated audience, between ages of 35-45. Busy lifestyle. Sophisticated internet consumers. Skew slightly women but we don't want a pink site with teddy bears. We need something professional and elegant.
We want the design to be classy, simple, elegant, professional, and friendly. We like white space (not too crowded). The visual design doesn't have to match the rest of wisebread.com. However we do like the blue and green we use on the site.
Elements to include in the landing page
Here's the current bio page: http://www.wisebread.com/node/2056808 We want to use all the text and images on that page (except in section 2 where we want you to select a different image). For ease of reference I've broken down the page to 8 sections: https://imgur.com/a/9YbYF The page width limit is 980. ### Overall Design ### We're already set on the blocks of content we want, and their placement. So what we need are design elements like shadows, dividers, icons, section titles, font choices, spacing, etc to really make this page look more cohesive. We don't like clutter though, so we also don't want an over designed page. ### SECTION 1 ### This is our logo. You cannot change this at all. Just use it as is. ### SECTION 2 ### These are two links. We like to keep this section fairly simple, so would prefer to stay with a simple text-link style. But you do some light changes here if you really want, like if you want a different font or divider to separate sections 1&2 with the section below. ### SECTION 3 ### This is a section where you can make some good changes. We think we can use a better design for the photo here. Right now the circle design is ok, but there's a weird bit of blank space below it. This is probably where you can make the biggest impact in the look and feel of the page. We will provide you with a couple of photos you can use for this section. You can select the photo you like. ### SECTION 4 ### The name "Janet Alvarez" should be bigger. The title "MBA, WHYY/NPR Anchor, Wise Bread Executive Editor" should be a bit smaller. Maybe they should be on different lines? We're open to design decisions here. Color and font and size of title can change. Or even maybe a more stylized title with an icon. The text in the paragraphs are very important. That's the key thing we want people to read. So you can add design elements here, but please make sure the text here is EASY TO READ (i.e. no small fonts or weird light colors for the fonts, or a dark color background to make text unreadable). Please also design a nice "Read Full Bio" icon if you think you can do better than the existing one. ### SECTION 5 ### Section 5 is a carousel. You can design things like borders (if any), arrow icons for navigation, the numbers on the bottom, etc. We understand carousels are hard to design, so we don't expect a lot of fancy designs here. If you're stuck, we rather you spend time designing other sections instead of this one. ### SECTION 6 ### We are proud of these logos as they represent all the major media outlets Janet has appeared in. If you want, you can add design elements such as borders or change the "Featured in" or add some icons here. But remember the logos are the stars of this section and should not be overshadowed. ### SECTION 7 ### You can change the "About Janet" for the section and the "Contact Janet" for the button. Overall though the picture must be used and the text must be divided into two columns. ### SECTION 8 ### For 8a, the box can use a little design. The "contact Janet" button obviously needs to be updated with something nicer.
