samuelzeckstein got their new illustration or graphics by running a design contest:
Illustrative visual mark for new bone broth restaurant in downtown Manhattan
Check out samuelzeckstein's Illustration or graphics contest…
Springbone is a fast casual restaurant in the heart of Greenwich Village in New York City. We sell a range of wholesome and healthy foods centered around bone broth. Our menu consists of a range of signature bone broths and "broth bowls" which incorporate our bone broths into bowls of rice, veggies and protein. We also serve delicious vegan avocado ice cream. Our target audience is young people living in downtown Manhattan who are interested in health and eating good food from quality ingredients and sourcing. We pride ourselves on our relationships with farms and only using the healthiest and highest quality ingredients. Bone broth has a range of nutrition benefits, from weight loss to gut and skin health to protein intake.
What's your vision?
We are looking for an original illustration to complement our existing custom script word mark to make up the full combination mark logo. This visual mark must integrate with the attached "Springbone" word mark to form a cohesive combination mark. The visual mark should also be able to stand alone to represent the brand. It should be unique and iconic and easily identifiable with the brand. A couple words on the style we have in mind: We are looking for something that feels hand drawn, simple, organic. This fits with the vibe of our restaurant. We want the restaurant to feel like a really nice clean home kitchen, very light airy and slightly feminine and youthful/fresh. We are open and flexible to your creativity in how to capture this but we think a simple design that looks hand drawn would best accomplish this. We also are looking for something slightly hip, youthful and fresh. It should not feel too corporate (after all we are located in downtown Manhattan!). Please bear in mind that this illustration is going to be a part of the combination mark and needs to jive with the existing word mark, both in terms of style and size/fit. When you think about how to design this think about where it will be positioned vis-a-vis the word mark ( left, right, top, bottom, around, within, etc.). How well it works with the word mark will be a major factor in our decision making. We would like to see the combination mark as part of your presentation, in addition to to visual mark standalone. Design Direction: "Plants in various stages of growth": We are looking for (emphasis here) creative takes on this theme. We envision 4-5 individual plants lined up one after another showing different stages of growth starting from nothing (just dirt, or a seed) to a more substantial growth. We envision this most likely fitting directly under the existing word mark. A growing plant represents the health benefits of our products and to revitalizing quality of bone broth. Also "spring" in our name fits well with this direction. We also love the visual symmetry of this option. We find that the repetition of the potted plants in attached image to be aesthetically pleasing, although I'm sure this can be achieved without pots. The advantage to not showing the pot is that it may look more natural/organic/pastoral- which is great for us. We also think this design is unique and could be highly recognizable, even iconic.
Please find the *UPDATED* attached logo/word mark. To be clear we would like to work with the existing custom script attached here. Your task is to build an illustration/visual mark to work with this existing word mark. Also please see springbone.com for a little better sense of our style. ***We would like our winning design to be vectorized and saved as an .eps or .ai file. (We'll be using the design for signage, with our logo, etc.)
