About us: The Women’s Health Research Cluster is an international multidisciplinary network of researchers and stakeholders that are interested in women’s health research and how sex and gender play a role in health outcomes. We work towards creating a future where women can live equitably healthy lives from birth to old age by promoting, expanding and catalyzing impactful research on women’s health. Our members are scientists, students, healthcare practitioners, non-profit leaders and other community stakeholders. Our work resides at the nexus of multiple academic disciplines including, but not limited to medicine, humanities, digital sciences and political science. The WHRC provides opportunities for our members and the general public to learn, network and engage with internationally recognized researchers across disciplines in women’s health. Women’s health is impacted by multiple factors including human rights issues, gendered medical practices and harmful social norms. Because of this, the WHRC embraces a multidisciplinary and holistic approach to fully appreciate all the issues that influence women’s health across the lifespan. By linking diverse perspectives, we aim to move the field of women’s health towards achieving its full potential and begin spreading the benefit of healthy women across the world. One of our newest initiatives is a podcast named Health Interrupted... About Health Interrupted: Health Interrupted is a monthly podcast that will interview experts and people with lived experience about topics that relate to four themes related to women's health: general health and wellness, brain health, socio-cultural determinants of health and policy, politics and advocating for women's health (note: these topics may change each season, but give an idea of the multidisciplinary nature of our work). Conversations on this podcast will be informative yet relatable and “digestible” to engage segments of the public not already involved or heavily interested in science. Through a combination of scientific inquiry and storytelling, we aim to make accurate and often difficult-to-reach multidisciplinary information about women's health accessible to the general public. Our target audience is the general public, but due to the scientific nature of this podcast we will likely identify more strongly with individuals who have postsecondary educations. Furthermore, this is a student-led podcast (2 university students will be the hosts). As such, we anticipate having a strong university student listenership. Lastly, we expect that those who identify as female and/or woman (including transgender women) will be a large part of our audience.
What's your vision?
We need cover art for our podcast. Design Theme Considerations: (what we want to be reflected in this art piece) 1. Science 2. Health (Could use the heartbeat symbol in the WHRC logo— though not required) 3. Multidisciplinary (it’s important that we don’t come off as being a medical organization as we aim to traverse multiple disciplines) 4. Intersectional (age, sex, gender, ability, race, economic status etc..) 5. Bold & Impactful, catches attention 6. Incorporates WHRC logo colour #D18B93 in some way. Our colour palate is included in the attached document. You don't need to stick to this colour palate completely, but it's there to give you an example of what we regularly work with. 7. We prefer something relatively simple and bold, but certainly can have multiple visual elements (just not overwhelming) 8. A balance between professional and modern. Just not so trendy that it will be outdated soon. Ideally we'd like to work with the artist to obtain the following versions of this cover art. We are flexible to discuss how this may impact cost. a. We’ll need the original image file (e.g. .ai)—this will help us adapt the image for any future needs. b. This image should be high resolution, at least 2000+pixels wide at 300 ppi c. We’ll want to use this image on webpages and social media (YouTube, IG, Twitter, FB), so we will need to have this image in sizes appropriate for all in .jpg format.
