Check out VICTOR77's Character or mascot contest…
You can check our facebook page... MONOLOCO GUATEMALA or MONOLOCO ANTIGUA, if you want to get a better idea of what we do. We own restaurants bars in Guatemala, Central America. We target men and women between 20-30 years old. Our company depends a lot on it's image for marketing. We sell nachos, burgers, quesadillas, burritos, pizzas. Each one of our 2 restaurant bars sit 350 people. We have 2 stores inside the restaurants that sell tshirts and souvenirs with our image. We have used 99 designs before and have bought 27 designs for our tshirts store. Our concept compares with TGIFRIDAYS or HARD ROCK CAFE.
What's your vision?
WE DO NOT NEED TO CHANGE OUR MONKEY. The designing needed is to refresh and make some adjustments on our monkey’s image. Something like the evolution that characters like MICKEY MOUSE or CHESTER CHEETAH have had over the years. Even though through the years, Mickey Mouse has changed, Mickey Mouse still looks like Mickey Mouse. Therefore, our monkey needs to remain being and looking like our monkey. People already recognize our monkey and that has cost a lot of money. The monkey has to retain its basic shape… Although we do want his legs to be a little longer. It needs an update. Monoloco Monkey 2.0. This monkey is 13 years old, technology and designing have evolved. Please look at our monkey in the attachment. THING TO FIX Our monkey looks too childish. Our target audience are “young” adults (18-29 year olds) . We feel our monkey looks too cute and to sensitive for that target, especially because we are a restaurant bar that sells them beer. We would want our monkey to look COOL. Mostly the problem we feel is in his face and mostly his eyes. The way that the previous designers have made him stand and act, has made him look too childish. Personality wise we would want our monkey to be someone you want to hang out with, someone cool to party with, a good friend to have a good time with. A perfect example of personality is the change that Chester Cheetah had in this link. We liked what they did from step 1 to number 2. The 3rd one with Jeans looks to real for us, that one we don't like. http://www.perspectivebranding.com/images/uploads/portfolio/_960/Cheetos_OLd-NEW.jpg HOW TO PRESENT YOUR DESIGN 1. We need the monkey undressed, no clothes, no shoes. We need to see all his features. 2. Use a different pose than the one we have in our attachment. Preferably stand him up. 3. Use a wooden background that is not cartoon but real, our monkey needs to interact with real elements, so we need to see how your monkey will look with that background. 4. Use a black line to outline the monkey. We feel that using black helps him stand out when put against real world objects. As you can see our monkey already has this outline, what we want now is to make that line thinner. Since we feel a thinner line makes it look less childish and cartoony. 5. As mentioned before make his legs about 25-35% longer that what we already have. 6. Present a version without sunglasses and one with sunglasses. We need to see how you make his eyes, since sometimes we will need to use him without sunglasses. We have figured out that using sunglasses makes him look cooler, so mostly we will use it like that. 7. The most important change we need is in our monkey’s eyes. If you can give us options of different eyes. 8. THIS IN NOT NECCESARY BUT COULD BE DONE… Don’t be afraid to change a little the shape of his head, as long as the main features are there, Semi round face, big ears, stand up hair. We like what we have but sometimes things can be improved by trying new things, so we will let you play around with it. 9. Use the same colors that we have used in our monkey. 10. If you are going to put color to his eyes use the same blue we have already. Do not put a glow in his eyes, that doesn’t help, because it makes it look childish.
We are looking for a designer for our monkey that can completely change our image. After we finish with the redesigning we will need Billboards ads, table talkers, menu, website, etc... This will be a big project, please give us your best!
