Art & Design
We do digital art media and print mostly geared towards family friendly audiences.
What's your vision?
The winner of this competition will work 1 on 1 with us, creating a set of illustrated characters ready for us to rig to animate, with specific design style. This competition is for ONE CHARACTER so we can then start a project with the winner to create a family set based on the ONE CHARACTER that wins this competition. You are just creating the characters, not rigging them. TRUST YOUR CREATIVITY, our suggestion for art and animation style are guides. We want your creativity. This contest is to find our designer / illustrator - and then work 1 on 1. Please design one character. The rest we can work with one on one. We need you to create at least ONE of the following (we would prefer the daughter 10 to 12): - Mom - Dad - Daughter (10 to 12 yrs) - Son (10 to 12 yrs) - Baby (12 months, crawling and walking) - Daughter (4 to 5 yrs) - Son (4 to 5 yrs) - dog - cat You will need to make sure they are created as vectors in Illustrator or if you must, photoshop at a high resolution. Please separate layers as we will be rigging and animating these characters: Head - head - front and back hair - left eye (pupil, white, mask) - right eye (pupil, white, mask) - nose (not required, but if in art) - mouth (normal, smile, pucker, etc. not all required, just a few) BODY - Arm Left (hand, forearm upper arm/shoulder) - Arm Right(hand, forearm upper arm/shoulder) - Torso (hip, chest, neck) - Leg Left (thigh, lower leg) - Leg Right (thigh, lower leg) - Foot Right - Foot Left Each BODY (not the head, we take care of head rotation, just body) will need to be positioned for animation, ready to rig. 1. Straight On 2. 45 degree 3. 90 degree (not required but a plus) https://youtu.be/v6eMvSAa6Y4?t=154 We may award multiple designers, if we like your styles as we have many projects we need sets for.
We want it stylized BETWEEN these two styles (create your own, don't copy, but find a balance between Charlie and Lola style and The example Art Styles shown below but please use your creative talent, we'd rather see your unique touch than copy these examples): Animation styles: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChywlcOh5K5wvnu0YZhrnmw https://youtu.be/LFrKYjrIDs8 We Will follow this type of animation style NOT the artwork style. Art Character Style Examples: We love the flow of Song of the Sea. Can be used for eye inspiration, facial and body inspiration. https://youtu.be/VrhoOzW8oF8 https://tinyurl.com/y4vkpbq4 https://www.behance.net/gallery/64538645/CD-Tiny-town-tiny-house This example shows a fun touch to the art, we do not like the boy or mom and dad at all, but the teen girl shows some artistic approach to character. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/325666616780287554/ This example shows another artistic approach to character design. The idea is to give it some artistic touch, not just plain vector colors, but an art style to the characters. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/606015693580916822/ Another sample of an artistic touch to a character. Character Setup Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6eMvSAa6Y4&start=155 This is the software we use to animate our characters. You will create Front, Side 1, Size 2 angles for each character.
