Jcb123 got their new button or icon by running a design contest:
Create the app icon for Barcode Rockstar
Check out Jcb123's Button or icon contest…
Barcode Rockstar is an interactive scavenger hunt game that leads players on a chase for retail products found in major retail chains across the country. Several hunt games run concurrently in several different categories including electronics, grocery, books, toys and wildcards. A series of clues is displayed one at a time, starting with general clues about a product. As the hunt progresses the clues become more specific to allow users to zero in on the specific item. Users “submit” their answers by scanning the UPC barcode of the products. Barcode Rockstar will initially be available on the Android mobile phone platform.
What's your vision?
We would like an icon designed to be used as the Android Launcher icon (used in the same way as the iPhone's "app icon"). Google has guidelines for the icons that should be adhered to: http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/ui_guidelines/icon_design_launcher.html We'll need separate icons for low-, medium-, and high-density screens, as described in this document. This basically means one 72 x 72 px png, one 48 x 48 px png, and one 36 x 36 px png. We're thinking something that incorporates both a UPC barcode and something "rockstar"-y, but we're open to your creativity. We're intending to go with a black and red color scheme for the app, but again open to your ideas. We'd like the icon to take up the available space, so a rounded-corner square icon would be best. No circles without transparent backgrounds.
Remember this is a game for all ages, so we'd like the icon to be fun. Have fun with this!
