International Guild of Visual Peacemakers (IGVP)
We launch officially April 15th. Our temp blog is at http://www.visualpeacemakers.org
We are visual communicators devoted to peacemaking and breaking down stereotypes by displaying the beauty and dignity of various cultures around the world.
As humans we often fall into the trap of making enemies with, stereotyping, and fighting the “other.” More recently, this has been fueled by the growing availability of technology. Movements/Media exist for “shock” stories and ones related to “the trials of the human condition.” IGVP takes a 3rd path, namely, building bridges of peace thru our common humanity.
The visual peacemaking movement is open thru membership to the Visual Peacemakers Community, (VPC). Guild membership is exclusive. Guild members collaborate with the Founders to provide thought leadership, mentoring, and workshops.
Visualpeacemakers.org will have visual galleries, documentaries, photo stories, and a ‘house’ social network for vp'ers to create, connect, and catalyze.
All Visual Peacemakers are joined by a unique Ethical Code. They have also issued the Charter for Visual Peace which affirms every human beings’ responsibility to be a socially conscious consumer of visual content.

5 icons to represent values of IGVP's visual collection. Will be used to ‘award’ photogs. Instead of just a 5 star rating we're branding our values.
5 awards: This image displays-
1. Common Humanity–Showing connection, building bridges of peace through images
2. Dignity & Beauty–The inherent quality & value of a human being
3. Local Context–Life among locals, a feeling of “place”
4. Hope for Humanity–Images that show relationships, human resolve, and acts that inspire
5. Mysteriously Emotive–Visual poetry that emotes something unspeakable about the mysterious human experience
Interpret 5 themes, either contained in a square-ish shape, or unbound objects—not too flat, not too glossy or embossed, but polished looking. Similar to the IGVP leaf.
Icons transp24bit .png, provide .psd or .ai. 300×300 300dpi. Will be used at 25x25px for rating, bigger when awarded.
Colors: Icons will sit on bg hex#1b191a. Our colors are Green hex#89a843; Orange hex#d48642; Blue hex#4684a9. B&W are suitable, too.
When photog gets majority of members to rate him with one particular award, then that award will be displayed on their "Peacemaker Profile" page. 3 design comps attached. On Peacemaker Profile, our developer didn't understand these awards. There will not always be 5 icons, with un-awarded ones grayed out. One larger icon could sit there, or 2, or 5.
