*** ALERT *** For new entrants into the contest: we now have enough proposals for the use of an "R" as a logo. Pleas focus on alternative designs if you want to enter."
ROEMER Immobilien AG is a real estate financing and development company with a focus on condominium appartment buildings (i.e. usually 3-5 levels, 5-25 condos/appartments. Thus it is neither large commercial real estate, nor single-house family homes.
"ROEMER" stands for a name that is derived from the German equivalent for ancient Romans. "Immobilien" means real estate. "AG" is the type of legal entity (like a PLC).
Thus the main part of the Name is ROEMER, which provides some identy. The addition "Immobilien AG" is less important but needs to be reflected in logo/company name combination.
TARGET AUDIENCE: The company has two target audiences, firstly: bank representatives and investors (those who lend money for the projects.) Secondly, there are end customers (like families) who buy the condos/apartments. For the purpose of the logo, we clearly want to address the first group with priority, i.e. financial investors, bankers, etc.
Given that type of company/industry and target industry, there are some things we like, others we do not like.
Please see the attached file for more details.
Clear, modern sans serif fonts as opposed to Times Roman type of serif fonts.
Perhaps some alignment of Text elements / symmetry
Logo left from text elements as opposed to Logo on top of the company name.
We are not sure whether we should take a logo + Römer Immobilien AG - or - because this is already long, have ROEMER as the logo itself. We are open to suggestions for both.
Also some connection with real estate / modern architecture can be possible, but there are so many cliché/icon-type of real estate logos out there.
Since the name ROEMER literally means "Roman" (as in ancient Rome), we could imagine some connotation in the logo with ancient Rome or its values. But we struggle with clichés such as roman column, laurel ... if this is heard to do aesthetically, we should not do it.
The main thing is that we have something to identify with, something that is bold and creates identity.
The logo/branding should suggest trust, value, perhaps be a little consverative (we talk to bankers and investors), yet, we want to come across as forward-looking, clear, modern, innovative. It should show: this is where you can invest, where value is created, where real estate value is build and a clear, fast, smart and reliable way.
We clearly prefer colors from the blue range (perhaps combined with grey/silver) -- definitely no green range, orange, bright stuff, colors that hurt in the eye...
You see what the challenge is: boring finance real estate but so well done that it stands out in a way that finds agreement (not debate or controversy or provocation.)
We see two options for the potential winner:
Option A) We would already be very happy for something solid and highly professional along the lines of the briefing as a first step.
Option B) You deviate and be really creative and surprise us with something really good that we have not thought of.
Anything in between we doubt will be successful.
ADDITION . UPDATE
USE OF IMAGE / ICONS --
One important clarification on the briefing. In the briefing we state that we are not in the real-estate business for single-family homes. Thus, while often used by Real Estate firms, we do not have "single house roof tops with chimney" in the logo. You get the idea. We also do not do skyscrapers or industrial real estate. The focus is modern apartment complexes with anything between 5 to 50 condos. So, if you do want to make reference to a roof or building or other architecture in the logo, please no "cliche" rooftops of single houses. -- The basic ideas are all good though. Happy sketching! Happy drawing!
"R" vs. OTHER PROPOSALS
Hi all, thank you so much for this great creative input. We now received a lot of proposals for the use of the letter "R" in a box or otherwise. (You probably saw that we rated some of the proposals there high.) - I think we now have enough of those ideas to work with. We are OPEN for alternative ideas. Please no more "copying" the R idea from already existing designs. Thank you!
Hi all - further to the previous message. We see a lot of icon designs, monogram, "R"s ... we like the Serif Font -- but don't forget that a sophisticated Serif Font with the right balance between boldness and elegance is also part of the overall Logo/word combination. We cannot go with a standard Powerpoint Helvetica/Arial font.
