We are building a crowdfunding platform that connects like-minded Australian investors and businesses to online communities for the purpose of promoting, discussing, completing and monitoring crowd-funded community-based, ethical investments. It is meant as a serious, investment platform, not a start-up fun site like Kickstarter. Having said that, it is meant to be differentiated from the traditional/existing crowdfunding platforms today. We anticipate having our investment proposals being easily understood, simple, answer in a page and engaging. Examples of crowdfunding/associated concept sites that are more akin to our way of thinking today is CapitalPitch and Crowdcube. We have 2 customer groups. The first group are the potential investors, who will join communities they are interested in contributing both funds and knowledge to. To start with these will be sophisticated investors. However we want to appeal to mum and dad investors in the medium term. A clean-cut, easy style will be essential for us. The 2nd group of customers are the businesses who need funding. We will be targeting small - medium-sized businesses who have a proven business model, demonstrated customer growth and a leader prepared to properly action a well thought out business plan to drive growth, using the funds (and knowledge) of the investors. The name locally grown comes from the idea that "local" investors will contribute money and knowledge to "grow" successfully businesses. Communities will be broader than localities, to include like interests - eg healthy foods/drinks, medical research etc. This is a for profit business, not a non-for-profit community service.
We are keen to not have the logo link us directly to agriculture as the name has the potential to be misleading here . We also think the concept of contributing knowledge as well as funds for business growth is important, and could be an interesting concept to explore. We like clean-cut, relatively simple logos and are open to colour suggestions and all quirky ideas!
