Get Off the Shelf: You Have the Right to Be Happy
Vicki L. Dobbs (Add: Foreword by New York Times and International Bestselling Author Lynn V. Andrews)
we are just doing the front for now
My name is Vicki Dobbs and my book is titled Get Off the Shelf: You Have the Right to Be Happy. It is a work of non-fiction and is best described as self-help/how to/inspirational. I was called to write this book when I had a very visceral dream of myself walking down a long hallway lined with bookshelves. My attention was drawn to movement on the top shelf over my left shoulder. I looked up and saw my agitated self, looking down at me asking, “What the hell am I doing up here?” I knew it was time, once again, for me to get off the shelf. This book is about how we, especially as women, set our selves aside in service to everyone and everything else in our lives except ourselves. In it the reader will see what an intentionally crafted life looks like, learn ways to recognize when they are lost in a life lived for others, discover tools, techniques and ceremonies for kickstarting or re-booting their sacred dream and determine how to get off the shelf and back into a life imagined, remembering their dream.
Get Off the Shelf is ideal for women 40+ who are living and working in their worlds often hiding depression and suffering silently in fear of letting the people in their lives down or disappointing them. They are master co-dependents. It is for these women who have lost themselves in a life of doing instead of being and think they need permission to be happy. They are seeking self-empowerment with clarity and direction for those times when they find themselves stuck or when they sink into overwhelm, when they find themselves on the shelf. They are ready to reach beyond the boundaries of their days, to dream outside the proverbial box and to know they are not alone. I invite them to explore new experiences by sharing mine while stepping into the magic and mystery of all possibility. How can you choose what you cannot envision?
