What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
The title of the book is Last Flight of the Phoenix - Book 2 of the New Terra Sagas. By Matthew O. Duncan. It is a Sci-fi/Fantasy novel for all audience. The ideal cover is has the image of the T.S.S. Phoenix, a heavy-battle spaceship. It is half a kilometer long, 500 meters tall and 1000 meters wide. The bridge is on top and front. The top center is a raised section that smaller ships (fighters and shuttles) take off and land through 4 story tall double doors. This landing deck is one third the length of the ship. The engines are at the rear of the ship if seen from the rear are three large cylinders the take up the entire aft section. Think Battlestar Galactica style. It should have small one man fighters flying around it. Like F-14, but smaller wings. Included in the image is the planet New Terra. It is a green and blue planet like Earth, but has three moons and a ring of asteroids. If you wish to include a sun you should know it is a binary system (two suns).
My second choice is a image of everything listed above on the top half and on the bottle half the planet surface with a medieval castle on mountains of snow and green forest.
I am open to one other idea. If you can come up with a logo that might be found on a space battleship called the Phoenix and make it an impracticable book cover I will consider it.
We highly recommend reading the first book - The Warrior's Stone. It is available in print and e-book. The Phoenix is featured prominently in this first book and it would give you a good feel for style and feel. Get info at http://www.matthewoduncan.com/
The first book was focused on two characters and a central love story. This book is much more complex with several different story-lines. So the image is going to be a departure from book one. However I suggest reviewing the cover of the first book. If you can find elements from book one to include in your design, it would be a big plus. I would suggest trying to match font and layout of text.
The first book's cover was done at 99 designs. I was very satisfied with the experience which is why I have returned to this place for the second book.
Tip. Be flexible. Ask for and accept feedback. I will let you know what I like and what I don't directly to you. I will not post my notes for all to see. It will be a one on one collaboration with each substitution.
