SURVIVING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: MY JOURNEY OF SELF-CARE AND HEALING
Kendra Weenie is a Cree woman from Sweetgrass First Nation in Saskatchewan, Canada. Kendra is a mother, artist, and inspirational speaker. She hopes to spread awareness about domestic violence through sharing her personal story of healing and learning self-care.
The book is a memoir that shares the author's experiences leading up to her former abusive relationship. She share's childhood memories, experiences with past relationships, different forms of abuse experienced in her last relationship, and how she began her healing journey. Self-care tips are included throughout the book.
The target audience is women age 15 to 40 in Canada. Indigenous (First Nations, Metis, Inuit) women would benefit most from this book.
Book cover type
I would like of a picture of me on the front with a faded picture of myself as a child in the background. My book represents growth and healing, so any pictures or art that depicts this theme is appropriate. For example, a picture of a butterfly or flower and use of the colours pink and purple would be appropriate for the cover or back. I am also open to different styles for the book cover, as this is my first book. I will choose the one that appeals to me the most.
What to avoid

Arberesh was fantastic to work with! He responds quickly to questions and requests for changes and updates, and his design skill speak for themselves. My cover is better than I ever hoped for, I'll definitely use him again on my next book!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
