Andrew Cooper got their new book cover by running a design contest:
Design the Modern Literature eBook Cover for Huffier
Check out Andrew Cooper's Book cover contest…
Huffier is the low-cost, high-quality, digital reading subscription service available on your computer, smartphone and tablet devices. The Huffier digital library offers a wide selection of modern literature, novels, non-fiction and textbook titles available on-demand. In a nutshell it's a Spotify for eBooks :)
What's your vision?
There are four types of eBooks that Huffier offers in its digital library: Modern Literature, Novels, Non-Fiction and Textbooks. We want you to focus on "Modern Literature" which is a selection of around 200 of the most critically acclaimed English literature titles that are now in the public domain. We would like to have a generic design for an eBook cover that will also incorporate the official Huffier logo in some way (attached to the design brief in both an .AI and .EPS file) and have text that is designed in a way that can be deemed visually appealing yet isn't tied down to a particular theme / genre. It will essentially be one generic eBook cover design where, at the end of the contest when the handover is complete, we can change the title text to whatever we want, save it as a .PNG then rinse and repeat 199 times more! I've attached an example to help with understanding the brief, but please ask any questions if you wish.
Perhaps you could in some way also incorporate the Huffier colour as a border or something? Was just a thought. The colour is #0076B2. If you're more interested in the service itself than designing the eBook cover then you can register your interest at http://www.huffier.com ;)
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. Book cover starts at $399.

Andrew Cooper collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.

And then… they selected a winner!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
